I currently
have a little note on my whiteboard on my closet that states, what have you done today to make yourself a
better person?
It’s a
simple reminder to make sure I do at least one productive activity each day
that adds to my value as a person. It
can be anything from reading a book, practicing Korean or German, or even just
cleaning up my apartment. Because the
thing is, apathy is and always will be my biggest enemy.
It’s oh so
very easy to come home from work every day, take a nap, browse Facebook, watch
T.V., go on a bike ride, watch more T.V., browse Facebook again, and go to
sleep. And If I’m not careful and conscious
about how I spend each hour, days like this can turn into months of just
existing. The struggle is real.
However, if
I can dedicate at least one hour each day to an activity that will make me a
better person, then I think that day was a success. Of course that doesn’t happen every day, but
when it does, I’m a happy camper!
